Independent written commentary on 30 games from the 2025 pro football season. 22 of them are regular season games and 8 are from the postseason: three wild card games, two divisional games, both conference championships and the championship game itself.

This is analysis and argument, not reporting. It is written from the public record of what happened. Text only, no photographs of anything.

26 of the thirty-two clubs appear somewhere in those thirty games. Pittsburgh, Washington, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Cleveland are not in any chapter. That is on this page rather than in the small print, because finding it out after paying is exactly what a refund is.

It is not a record of the 2025 season and it does not try to be. Games are not ranked, and plenty of good football is missing on purpose. It is an argument about the afternoons that decided the year.

What is in each chapter

Every chapter follows the same shape, so once you know where things sit on the page you can find them without reading around them. All six parts are in all 30 chapters.

• The particulars. Date, kickoff, venue, attendance, final score and what was at stake. All six, in all thirty chapters.
• Where both teams stood. Honestly, including the games that looked like nothing beforehand.
• Who shaped it. The players the game turned on, with their real numbers from that afternoon. Selected contributors, not a full box score.
• How it unfolded. The narrative of the game. A selective account, not a complete scoring summary.
• Grades. Out of ten, for the players and units that mattered. Opinions, written to be argued with.
• The verdict. Where the coaching decisions get examined and the author says what should have happened instead.

The grades are opinions. They are meant to be argued with.

What a chapter is not: a box score, a stat line for every player who appeared, a drive chart, a complete scoring summary, or a quotation from anybody. Nobody is quoted anywhere in the book.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

How this was put together

The games were chosen first and the writing came second. The 8 postseason games largely chose themselves, because they were the ones that decided something. The 22 regular season afternoons had to earn their place, and the rule was that a game got in only if the result changed what the season meant, the manner of it was genuinely unusual, or it is the one people will still bring up years from now.

A few rules were set before a word was written, and they held all the way through.

Fact and opinion are kept apart. Scores, dates and the sequence of what happened are matters of public record. The commentary, the grades and the verdicts are the author’s own. The book never dresses one up as the other, and neither does this page.

Where a detail could not be verified it was left out rather than guessed at. That is why the chapters are not identical to each other. It is the difference between a fact that could be checked and one that could not.

Nobody is quoted. There are no broadcast calls, no press conference lines, no player interviews, no sentences lifted from anywhere. Every line in the book was written rather than collected.

There are no photographs. Not of players, not of uniforms, not of stadiums. The book is text, and this page says so before you pay rather than after.

The grades are argued, not assigned. Each one carries a line saying why. A 10 has to be defended in the same space as a 2.

No credentials are claimed. It is written by someone who watches these games and analyses them, and that is the whole of the qualification on offer. This book does not ask you to trust a person. It asks you to read one chapter about a game you already watched and decide whether the reading of it is better than yours. If it is not, the refund is below.

No. This is an independent work of commentary and analysis. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by the National Football League or any of its clubs. Team and player names appear only to identify who is being discussed.

What is not in this book?

Box scores. A statistical line for every player who appeared. Drive charts. Snap counts. Play by play. Advanced metrics or any proprietary rating model. Photographs of players, uniforms or stadiums. Quotations from anybody. Predictions, fantasy advice, betting angles or draft analysis. An author biography. And any game from 2025 that is not one of the 30 listed above.

Is the game I care about in it?

Every one of the 30 is listed above, with its date. If it is not on that list it is not in the book. 26 of the thirty-two clubs appear somewhere in them; Pittsburgh, Washington, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, Cleveland do not.

Does it cover the regular season, or only the postseason?

Both, and mostly the regular season. 22 regular season games and 8 from the postseason. Not every week has a chapter, and the games are not one per week.

Are the grades objective?

No, and the book says so. They are one person’s opinion, scored out of ten, written to be argued with. The reasoning sits next to each grade, so you can see it and reject it on the same page.

Will this help me predict anything, or bet on a game?

No. Every game in this book has already been played. It makes no predictions, it is not a betting guide, and nothing in it is aimed at a game that has not happened yet.

Why are there no reviews on this page?
